Parenting

Grace upon grace upon grace.

Friend. We’re new at this – I am sure you’ll be able to tell.  We are a work in progress and here to document the tools we find useful, joys, celebrations and love.

How it all began…

We joke that our parenting journey began when we adopted the dogs (our sweet Maizy passed away about 5 months after Cora was born. She and Moses were littermates)
Yes we’ve learned from them, but any parent will tell you it isn’t the same. Alas, it’s been a long road for us to become parents. If you’re curious about what that journey was like, click the button below:

Our foundations of parenting

…SO FAR. I said it above and I’ll say it again. We’re NEW at this – meaning – things will change. They already have. But in our short time as parents, here are some of the primary ideas and things we’ve relied upon in guiding our decisions

It’s been a humbling journey and we’ve been blessed to see many parent their kids before us – you have truly shaped our journey so far!

God’s Children

We believe Cora doesn’t belong to us, but to God. He has entrusted her to us and we are meant to guide her in His ways the best we can.

Saying No

We rarely say no to each other or Cora in parenting. We do our best to allow each of us to learn our style as parents and prefer the phrase “all done” with Cora.

See it Work

We love toys that allow Cora to see how it works, and experience it’s movement. Light up and noisy toys aren’t really our jam.

Boundaries

We want Cora to believe that we are reliable, predictable parents who provide a sense of security. Boundaries help all of us to know limits and benefit from them.
